‘The Golden Blood’ to vie at Sofia MENAR filmfest

New Iranian movie ‘The Golden Blood’ (Talakhoun) has made way to the Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria.

Directed by Ebrahim Sheibani, the film will vie at the feature films section of the 2023 edition of the event.

Enjoying megastar Shahab Hosseini before the camera, the film is a crime-mystery.

“Nahid is a strong woman who takes care of her children by herself, driving around the city streets all day, while her drug-addicted husband ruins the everyday life of the whole family. Things get complicated after the bodies of several women are found and police warn single women to be careful when out and about,” a synopsis of the film reads.

Another prominent Iranian actor Hessam Manzour also stars in the film.

The Sofia MENAR Film Festival “makes Bulgarian audience familiar with the culture and traditions of the Islamic world”, an online submission platform reads.

“The program of Sofia MENAR Film Festival presents the best of the Middle East and North Africa cinema productions, including feature films, documentaries and short projects.”

The 15th edition of the event will launch on January 16-29, 2023.
